This product is the equivalent for OziExplorer of product "Mediterranean Sea V. 3.0 for MapSource" and includes the following georeferenced maps:

  • 1 map in OFZX3 format, pixel of 200,00 m, scale 1:750.000 - this map has around 300 millions pixel and covers the entire Mediterranean Sea - the map also shows the "inset" highlighting position of each Port map

  • 622 maps in JPG format, pixel of 28,50 m, scale 1:100.000 - each map has around 250K pixel and covers one or more ports. The 622 maps cover 1.114 ports of Mediterranean Sea.

The Port Maps also include some geographic names, by using OziExplorer "map comment" facility, and the Port symbols , by using OziExplorer "map features" facility. Each Port symbol "points" to a detail file, HTM type, which is not included: users can create such files for ports of interest and therefore access the "help" function by double-clicking the Port symbol.

The Port maps have been obtained by using Landsat 5 images available at  https://zulu.ssc.nasa.gov/mrsid/mrsid.pl

The Landsat 5 images have been transformed from the original UTM projection to the Mercator projection and have been enriched by adding the coastline, some depth line, the port symbols, lights and labels.

The following files are also distributed:

  • PortiMed.wpt - includes the waypoints to 1.114 Mediterranean ports, in OziExplorer format

  • PortiMed.names and PortiMed.types - include the DataBase of 1.114  Mediterranean ports, in "Ozi Name Search" format

  • PortiMed.kml - includes the waypoints to 1.114 Mediterranean ports, in Google Earth format

  • CittaMed.names and CittaMed.types - include the DataBase of 4.102 cities closed to the Mediterranean Sea,  in "Ozi Name Search" format
